MOST INFLUENTIAL ALBUM

FAR EAST SUITE | DUKE ELLINGTON

Duke Ellington’s Far East Suite has become a touchstone for me as a producer, as it exemplifies music’s capacity to move beyond notation and arrangement into the direct transmission of affect. Through its kaleidoscopic textures and tonal palettes, Ellington transforms instrumentation into vessels of emotion, unfolding a full spectrum of moods and atmospheres within a single work.
