BIEN

Bien is a dream-pop band from Nashville, mixing synthetic and organic instruments into a melodic swirl of synths, guitars, strings, drum machines and cooing vocals. The project began with a songwriting session between bandmates Jessie Early and Angela Lauer, two Nashville natives raised by songwriter parents who had home recording studios at home. While working on new material for a local artist the pair stumbled across something different: a batch of songs that were atmospheric, evocative and uplifting, rooted in the hooks of pop music with a pillowy punch of something more ethereal. They began recording versions of the new material.

Early and Lauer then passed along their homemade recordings to Angela's husband, Tim Lauer, a world-class producer, arranger and session musician whose resume includes collaborations with a wide range of artists as diverse as Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes, Elton John, Dolly Parton and hundreds more. Tim joined Bien's ranks, beefing up the band's tracks with some hi-fi additions — a sweeping string arrangement here, spacey guitar riff there, all without losing the raw DIY elements. Combined, the three members have landed their songs in dozens of tv shows and movies as well as prime-time advertisements for some of the world's biggest brands, including Toyota, Coke, Target, Sephora, BMW, Glade, Tiffany and Co, NFL, NASCAR, Microsoft and Nike.

Like the band's own name, Bien's music celebrates the goodness in life, providing the soundtrack for any listener who wants to dance, dream or drift off.

MOST INFLUENTIAL ALBUMS

The Dude is definitive documentation of a producer getting the absolute best out of the absolute best singers, songwriters, session musicians, arrangers and engineers.

Jessie Parker Early: GRACELAND | PAUL SIMON

If had to bring one album on a desert island this would probably be it. The lyrics! The melodies! The music! Everything! Also, play “homeless” at my funeral.

Come on!!! Those arrangements, those melodies, the amazing emotional lyrics, the story telling - the perfect combination of goodness!! It is so inspiring to me as writer.
